Russian cbanker sees inflation at 6.5% in 2016, 4% in 2017
MOSCOW, May 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s inflation will amount to 6.5% in 2016 and will not exceed 4% in 2017, the central bank’s First Deputy Chairwoman Ksenia Yudayeva said at a forum on Monday.
Currently, inflation stands at around 7.3% year-on-year, she said. “It corresponds to the 2013 dynamics. We will have about 6.5% by the end of the year without new shocks. And then, under our forecasts, it will decrease to 4% by the end of next year,” she said.
The central bank’s official forecast for 2016 inflation amounts to 6–7%, while the Economic Development Ministry’s basic forecast encompasses inflation of 6.5%. The central bank’s inflation target for 2017 is 4%.
In 2015, consumer prices in Russia grew 12.9%.
